Dear relatives;
Welcome to my Scott family history website. My research into our Scott family tree has primarily been focussed on our 'roots' in Scotland. Who were our ancestors there? Where did they live? What did they do? What were their values and beliefs? In short, what was their story?
When I began my ancestry hunt I knew very little about our roots in Scotland. I did know that my great grandfather, Alexander Scott, brought his family to Canada in 1880, from a place in Scotland called Ashkirk. But that was just about all I knew. I am pleased to report that my research has uncovered much more about Alexander's life in Scotland and his family there. I've also uncovered 3 generations of his ancestors and their families. In all I now have documentation confirming 5 generations of my ancestors born in Scotland. Furthermore I have uncovered much information about each generation's siblings and descendants, including a family of my cousins who live in Scotland today.
WEBSITE: To provide my family with some of the story and facts about our Scottish heritage I've developed this website which is meant to compliment my earlier book, written in 1988. Click on the GENEALOGY tab on the upper menu of this page and a drop down menu will appear showing all 5 Scottish born generations and their lineages. If a story line with photographs is more to your liking than a list of names then click on the PLACES AND PEOPLE menu tab. Also, I've added a few of my favourite newspaper clippings under the menu tab RECORDS, along with a wonderful family poem written about 1901. All the links used around the website, and a few more, have been collected into one spot under the upper menu bar titled LINKS. The NEWS tab was meant to be a spot where I let you know about any changes I've made to the website. Finally, the CONTACT ME tab allows a reader to fill in a form and email me their questions or comments.
BOOK: For privacy purposes I've not posted any current information of living relatives to this website. My 1988 book titled Scott - The Story of a Family does contain much of that personal detail. Naturally, since 1988 I've uncovered much more information which I've added to an MSWord file that I can send to relatives. Over time I'll likely tackle a 2nd edition of my family book? I had better add that to the list of things I'd like to do if I had the time.
TWITTER: Yes, I am on Twitter. Just click on the little blue 'twitter bird' at the top right hand side of this home page to 'tweet' me.
FACEBOOK: I do have a Facebook account but I'm afraid I don't use it much so although you can click on the Facebook icon at the top right hand side of this page to 'Facebook me' I may not reply. Sorry.
Remember. I developed this website for you, my relatives. It's my hope that you enjoy the read and pass the link for this site on to your other family members. Pass our ancestor's story around so it isn't forgotten.
