It's been a while since my last post but I wanted you to know that I've checked in to see what's working and what's not. We are in the middle of this pandemic and as we are stay at home it certainly has become a good time to get some family history research done.
My wife visited England and Scotland at this time last year. After some time in London and Kent we headed north and had a wonderful week stay on a farm near Kelso which meant we could visit Ashkirk once again. After a wonderful week of the Borders we headed north to Edinburgh where I got in 2 days of research. From there we headed up into the Trossachs national park before flying home from Glasgow.
One of our highlights this trip was visiting Gilnockie Tower near Canonbie and Langholm. The old Armstrong peel tower has been lovingly restored and is now home to the Armstrong family museum. On this trip we also visited Smailholm Tower near Kelso. It's remarkable to visit these peel towers and I thank all parties for restoring them.
We won't be making it over to Scotland this year due to the pandemic but home this clears up soon so we can get back there.
